What's new:
New 2019-20 cohort graduation/dropout rates and data on students meeting UC/CSU eligibility requirements are now available. We have also updated the Teacher Salary section of the Staff Profile with 2019-20 data. And we have updated the AP and ACT graphs.
2022-23 School District Financial data
Visit the Teacher Salary section under the Staff tab for the latest data on average teacher salaries, lowest and highest salaries offered, benefits plans, teacher experience, and more. Teacher salary data are available at the district level, with one overview graph in the state profile.
2019-20 Adjusted Cohort Graduation Rate Data
Visit the College and Career Readiness section of the Student Profile to find graduation and dropout rates as well as how many students met the course requirements for admission to UC/CSU. These data are available for schools, districts, counties and at the state level. You can toggle between counts and percentages and drill into the graph for details by race/ethnicity or for students with disabilities, homeless, migrant and foster youth, socioeconomically disadvantaged students, and more. At the district, county and state levels, you can drill in further to view data for all students or separate out students in charter schools or traditional public schools.
We have also added a new graph that shows the total number of students in the cohort, including details by race/ethnicity and other characteristics as well as whether the students are in charter schools.
Updated AP and ACT Test data
Also in College Career Readiness data, you will now find data for the AP tests and the ACT updated through 2018-19. Data are available at the school, district, county and state levels. We are still working to update our SAT graphs to accommodate changes to how the data are now reported.
2018-19 Staff Demographic Data
Click the Staff tab to view updated data on teachers, administrators and pupil-services staff at the school, district county and state level.
(Note: The latest available data on certificated staff is for the 2018-19 school year. However, you can find some 2019-20 data for classified staff on the California Department of Education's DataQuest website.)
Bond and Parcel Tax Elections
Ed-Data now has results for local revenue elections through the November 2020 election. Look for the "Local Revenues Elections" tab at the district and state level.
Also available on Ed-Data:
2019-20 Student Enrollment and Demographic Data
Now find detailed enrollment data for a school, district, county, or the state as whole, including:
Enrollment by race/ethnicity and gender as well as counts for students in traditional schools or charter schools.
- English learner data, including information on how many students have been reclassified as proficient in English.
- Unduplicated pupil counts of high-needs students, which are used as a starting point for calculating funding under the state's Local Control Funding Formula.
- The number of charter schools and charter school enrollment.
- Schools by type and districts by type.
- At the state level, the number and enrollment of private schools in California.
You can also compare schools or school districts using the enrollment and demographic data.
To find information for your school, district, or county, enter the name of a school, district, or county in the Search box in the upper left corner of any page:
Or use the County, District, School drop downs to navigate to the agency you want to view:
Have you tried the comparison tools?
Much of the data mentioned above are also available in our school and district comparisons. Our comparison functionality allows you to:
- Compare schools or districts
- Select a specific year for comparisons and toggle between years as desired
- Select the data elements to be included in the comparison results from a list of all fields or by data category (e.g., summary, student demographic, performance, suspensions/expulsions, finance)
- Add in corresponding state or county data for elements you’ve added
- Filter results using criteria you select (e.g., show districts matching a specific data range such as enrollment between 1-500 students, or show only districts or schools within specific counties)
- Sort each data element from high to low or low to high, or sort districts/schools alphabetically
- Add specific schools or districts into the comparison (e.g., add a high-performing district or a neighboring district or school regardless of the other selection criteria used)
- Export results to Excel
- Eliminate a data element from results if you don’t need it
- “Pin” one or more districts or schools so that they are always displayed in the left-most columns of the results regardless of any sorting performed by the user – allowing you to compare districts/schools of interest with the highest or lowest values in each field
For a step-by-step “how to” directions on using the comparisons, view one of our online tutorials or see our How to Create District or School Comparisons article. Or start making your own comparisons: Compare Schools or Compare Districts.
What's Next
We are looking ahead to posting financial data for California's school districts, student enrollment and demographic data for the 2020-21 year and data on suspensions and expulsions. We will post them as soon as possible after they become available.
The disruption cause by the pandemic has created uncertainty about data availability. We do not expect CAASPP/Smarter Balanced test results or data on chronic absenteeism for the 2019-20 school year.
